Things to Remember
Children will be provided with a fruit snack if they would like one, but you can provide your child with their own fruit snack for break time if you would prefer. Please ensure that fruits such as grapes are cut into small pieces before being brought into school. Your child will also need to bring a named water bottle to school each day.
Year 1 have a PE lesson each Wednesday. We ask that children wear PE kits to school on this day.
Children will bring home one Phonics book and one library book each week. Their books will be changed every Friday. No library books will be changed the last week of each half term.

Home Learning
Throughout their time in Year 1, children are expected to engage in a variety of home learning activities to support their understanding and learning of the content they have been taught.
Writing:
Each week, Year 1 children will complete a one page (not double page) English activity from their CGP English book. These activities will focus on key grammar, punctuation and spelling skills that we have been learning and practising in class. These activities will come home in your child’s homework folder on a Friday. An in-app message will be sent to let you know which page needs to be completed. Please complete the activity and return it to school by the following Thursday.
Phonics:
Each week, the children will be given a worksheet to complete to consolidate phonemes taught that week. Children need to add the sound buttons to the words, blend and read them. They then need to read the sentences and practise writing the grapheme.
Reading:
Each Friday, children will bring home a decodable phonics book and a library book to read at home. Please return both books to school by the following Friday so they can be changed.
Phonics books need to be in school every day. Children can keep their phonics book in their reading folder when they are not reading it at home.
Maths:
Each week, Year 1 children will complete a 10-minute Maths workout from their CGP Maths book. These activities will reinforce the key maths skills and concepts that we have been learning in class. We encourage parents to support their child by talking through the activities together and celebrating their progress. These will come home in your child's homework folder on a Friday. Please send these back to school by the following Thursday. We will keep these in school and support your child with any areas that we notice they are finding tricky.
Little and often is the best way to use Numbots. Please speak to us if you have any questions or comments. You will find your child's login details on the front page of their Maths CGP book.
