Safeguarding
At our school, the safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for every child. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and we work closely with families and external agencies to promote children's welfare and ensure they receive the support they need.
As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, there may be occasions when we need to share information with other professionals or seek support from external agencies if we are concerned about a child's safety, wellbeing or welfare. This may include making a referral to Children's Social Care. Wherever possible, we will discuss concerns with parents and carers and work in partnership with families to support the child. However, there may be circumstances where we need to share information or take action without prior discussion if doing so is necessary to safeguard a child. Any decisions we make are guided by the best interests of the child and our statutory duty to safeguard and promote their welfare.

Operation Encompass
Our school is part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding initiative that supports children who may have been affected by domestic abuse incidents. Through this partnership, the police send a confidential notification to school if they have reasonable grounds to believe a child may be a victim of domestic abuse. This includes all children connected to a household where they have attended a domestic abuse incident; children who are physically present at the incident, children not physically present during the incident, and situations where a child might reside in another household temporarily or permanently.
The aim of Operation Encompass is to support education settings to provide timely, informed support to children affected by domestic abuse, to ensure the school has up to date information about the child’s circumstances and enable immediate support to be put in place according to the child’s needs.
